This is the remains of the Soviet submarine B-427 which used to be a tourist attraction in Long Beach, California, USA. The interior was closed in 2016.
B-427 was a Project 641 hunter-killer submarine used to protect the Soviet SSBN fleet in the north Pacific Ocean. It was built in Leningrad in 1971 and was based in Vladivostok until 1994. It had a crew of 78 sailors.
For submarine and ship modellers it is a lovely study in rust. Photos by John Clearwater, 18 January 2020.
