This is a scratch built model of a ship's gun in 1:64 scale (3/16 inch to the foot). The barrel of the gun has been turned on a lathe. The blocks were hand made. The rigging lines were made from linen thread on a rope-walk.
The ship's gun was built from plans for a fifty-four gun ship. This was the first one made to work out the methods for building and rigging the guns to go into the ship. The builder then repeated the process another fifty-four times.
