I was in Brockville on Sunday, July 10, 2016 taking pictures of memorials there. I saw Fair Jeanne moored next to the Aquatarium and, of course, I took pictures. Enjoy.

Boats in a Marina in Brockville

While I was in Brockville visiting Blockhouse Island I took some pictures of the boats docked in the marina there. I'm sharing them here, no biggie.

Brockville Police Boat

I visited Brockville. While photographing boats in a marina there I decided to take a few of the police boat moored there. This would make a super radio control model.

Capital Marine Modellers' Guild Attended the Third Annual Military Hobby Show

On 12 June 2016 members of Capital Marine Modellers' Guild manned a booth providing a display of ship models, video and reference books. Hosted by the Ottawa Service Battalion the show occupied a large room in the Major E. J. G. Holland VC Armoury on 2100 Walkley Road, Ottawa. In addition to our club's display, many hobbyists and vendors contributed to the show.

Twin Four Inch Gun from HMCS Buckingham

In the Parc des Anciens-Combattants in Buckingham, Québec you will see a twin four inch gun and two anchors from HMCS Buckingham, a river class frigate that served in World War II.

You can see more photographs of this site on my blog site, Memorials in Ottawa. Should you ever build a model of a Canadian ship that had this gun on it, you can go to Buckingham and get a very good reference for it.

80th Anniversary - RMS Queen Mary

Today is the 80th anniversary of the maiden voyage of Cunard's flagship, the ocean liner RMS Queen Mary.

Hull number 534 became the RMS Queen Mary, and set sail from Southampton docks via Cherbourg to New York city on 27 May 1936. By summer she held the Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic crossing.

Both the Mary and her sister ship RMS Queen Elizabeth carried war brides from the UK to Canada during and after WWII. The Mary carried over 1000 women, plus their babies, plus 14 Red Cross escort officers, on a single voyage.

The Mary made 1000 trans-Atlantic crossings by the time she was sold in 1967, and is now a museum and hotel in the USA.

CMMG has had its last meeting for the year. Subject to change due to circumstances the next one will be on September 6, 2016. In the meantime there are still some activities CMMG will be participating in, such as the upcoming Military Hobby Show.

Royal Canadian Mint Issuing Coin of Marco Polo

The Royal Canadian Mint is issuing a limited release one ounce gold coin depicting the New Brunswick tall ship, Marco Polo.
